The Times is delving deep into its archives to share never-before-seen images documenting and revealing significant moments in African-American history, accompanied by the untold stories behind them. Every day during Black History Month, the Times will be adding at least one of the hundreds of uncovered photographs online, bringing to the stage stories that were never given the spotlight at the time.
Readers are encouraged to share their own memories and materials to help with the journalistic process since there are many gaps to be filled in.
